Vitamin Deficiency and Hair Loss

Hair loss can be attributed to many causes like poor diet, metabolism disorder, stress, hormonal changes and so on, but one of the mostcommon cause for hair loss in both men and women is vitamin deficiency. As we grow, its not only our body which requires extra attention, but also our hair. Getting proper vitamins in regular proportion is important for hair follicles to grow normally. Yes, it true if we eat properly and toss in a daily supplement for good measure, we are less apt to experience thinning hair and/or hair loss. Lack of any principle vitamins like A, B, C and E results in hair loss.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A is responsible for cell reproduction which promotes hair growth. It plays an important role by protecting your hair follicles from any kind of damage caused by free radicals. If your hair does not receive the required amount of vitamin A, it can cause dryness which is due to failed process of sebum secretion. As the amount of cellular debris gets build up in your hair, you may suffer from dandruff and hair fall out. It is recommended that people above age 19 should consume 10,000 IU of vitamin A per day as excess of it can cause toxicity and hair loss.
Vitamin B
Getting Vitamin B is important to promote healthy hair growth. Vitamin B5 prevents your hair from turning gray and maintains the pigmentation of hair. Lack of vitamin B6, folic acid and vitamin B12 can cause hair fall as these vitamins are responsible for circulating blood to hair follicles and other body parts. If your hair follicle fails to get regular blood supply, it means less iron that ultimately leads to hair loss and slow regrowth.
Vitamin C
Lack of vitamin C can also result in breakage of hair and split ends. The presence of this vitamin helps our body to form collagen which is basically a connective tissue and essential protein. However, there are no evidences that the deficiency of this vitamin can cause hair loss, but it may make your hair weak. Vitamin C is beneficial for protecting your hair from free radicals.
Vitamin E
For circulation of oxygen, it is important that your body has enough amount of vitamin E. This vitamin circulates oxygen to both hair as well as scalp. If your hair is deprived of oxygen, it cannot regrow. Vitamin E has anti-oxidant properties.
If you wish to have healthy hair, then you should ensure to consume vitamins in an adequate amount.
